Welcome to the Academic & College Planning Department of Trinity High School. We are certified school counselors, as well as educators. The mission of the School Counseling Office is to provide comprehensive services which support the academic achievement, collegial aspirations, and mental wellness of our students. Much of our time is spent on individual counseling with students, and some of these conversations may be confidential. The School Counseling Staff takes a collaborative and student-centered approach by providing individual and group guidance. The counseling staff meets with students in groups, classrooms, and individual sessions regarding academic and personal progress. As we are a college-preparatory school, the Counseling Staff specializes in working with students through the college planning process.
Our Academic Coach provides our students with extra support as they transition into Trinity, providing opportunities for students to learn the organizational and study skills to help them succeed here.
The entire department works with our students throughout their entire Trinity experience. The School Counseling Staff is eager to assist students. We are here before school, during study halls and after school to assist students. Counselors will be more direct in initiating meetings with first and second year students through classroom presentations and one-on-one meetings. However, all students are encouraged to seek out support as it is needed. The counselors make themselves available for parent-teacher conferences when necessary. In the later years, students are expected to take the responsibility for seeking out college/career planning support.
The goal of the Counseling Staff is to advocate for our students and provide them with tools necessary to reach their academic and personal goals. Our objective is to challenge students to develop creativity, problem solving and critical-thinking skills. As we assist our students with their educational and career planning, we encourage them to maintain academic excellence, become involved in school and community activities, and share a commitment to Christian values.
